The Trail 18U Orioles battled longtime rival the Cranbrook Bandits in a doubleheader this weekend at Jason Bay Field at Butler Park.

The Bandits play in the American Legion Baseball League in Montana, and travelled to Trail on Sunday for an exhibition set against the Orioles, who got a bye this weekend in College Prep League play.

Two competitive games saw the Bandits pitching rise to the occasion and take the first match 4-0.

However, Trail fought back in the second half of the doubleheader. The Bandits led 2-0 after five innings, but the Orioles answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on the way to a 3-2 victory.

The Orioles are back in action this weekend when they travel to the Lower Mainland for a doubleheader versus North Shore on Saturday, April 27 at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver with game times at 3 and 5 p.m.

On Sunday, the Orioles will head to Burnaby Park to play North Fraser with games at 10 a.m. and noon.

North Shore is one of the stronger teams in College Prep with a 4-2 record and sit in third place in the division, while North Fraser has two wins and four losses in the early stages of league play.

The Orioles next home games will hit Jason Bay Field on May 11 and 12 for a four-game series against the Chilliwack Cougars with Saturday games at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday’s match ups at 10 a.m. and noon.
